It might be better to not even have the Internet. April 15th WT
by life is to short inok i was just blown away when i heard this today while driving, at first i thought it was the some old same old but then it went on and it seems like it is on a different level.. the subheading is "guard your heart by exercising self-control.
on page 27 par 17 it says "one way a person could wonder into the foolish course of the "young man in want of heart" is by aimlessly flipping though television channels or surfing the internet.
whether intentionally or not, he might chance upon sexually stimulating scenes.

Longhairgal--I remember sitting in the backseat of a car while me and another sister sewed the slits in my dress to just past my knee. It was in the mid-nineties when long fuller skirts had half a dozen slots all around the skirt. Did you always carry safety pins in case your blouse was cut a little too low?
I had a friend who was model beautiful and always dressed very modestly but because she was so beautiful she attracted attention wherever she went. She got pulled aside by a spanish sister in the parking lot of a restaurant we had eaten at during assembly. This woman lectured her for 20 minutes about the way she looked and walked until my friend was sobbing. That's Christian love for you. More like jealousy.

At least if the JW's became Amish, their kids would be allowed Rumspringa. I've always thought that an ingenius idea the Amish have. Let kids sow their wild roots then decide the rest of their lives. I think JW kids are so tightly controlled their development is retarded since any sort of rebellion or exploration is discouraged.

Movies are awesome. I have spent my life quoting them and applying various aspects of them to real life. If they had no bearing on real life, would we watch certain ones over and over again? I spent the 80's quoting John Hughes films, the 90's quoting Tommy Boy and Mel Brooks, and the last decade? I have reached a point where I quote what I read now. But I still love it when I hear a truly profound line in some great movie.

I was in a spanish congregation in my mid-twenties. One Sunday I show up at the meeting in this tight black skirt that came to my knees. During the middle song I went back to the bathroom and was followed back there by the visiting speakers wife. She pulled me into the mother's room and proceeded to spend over 30 minutes telling me how I shouldn't dress do "sexy" (all this was in spanish except for the word sexy) because the brothers can't help themselves from looking at my ass (my word). She said husbands and wives stand up for the song and when I stand the husbands look at my ass because they can't help themselves and their wives see them looking and get jealous. Then a fight ensues and it is my fault. I asked her if the brothers were not mature enough to control their own eyes and thoughts. She said, no, the women have to be the ones responsible because the men cannot control their inclinations. Her husband was presiding overseeer of a nearby cong.
Can you believe that bullshit? When an organization micro-manages its members so thoroughly it actually prevents such ones from maturing and becoming accountable human beings. Non-witnesses everyday make decisions to not look at porn or stare at another woman's ass. If JW's can't manage those things it is because they are mentally and emotionally stunted by their controlling religion.

Things I'm grateful for....
by Lunatic Faith ini only recently decided to change course in my life but am surprised at the daily reminders of what i have to be grateful for.
by this, i mean, things i have spent my life worrying about, or torturing myself with, that is no longer a concern:.
no more door-to-door humiliationno more guilt about not doing enoughi can get rid of most of the dresses in my wardrobe since i didn't like them anywayno more nylons rolling down my abdomen and causing my thighs to itchno more required reading and preparationno more talksno more conventions and all the headaches connected to themsummer is wide openweekly planning is no longer contingent upon meeting nightno more miserable weekends of morning service and morning meetingwhat are you grateful for?.

if information transmitted to a cult member is perceived as an attack on either the leader, the doctrine, or the group, a hostile wall goes up.

I agree, Coc. I remember willing myself to push critical words, pictures, or ideas out of mind to demonstrate my faith and keep my mind clean. When I think I was just cleaning my mind for infestation by the WBTS it sickens me.
On a similar note, we got together with my brothers (JW's) for dinner tonight. It's our ninth anniv. and they were treating us. They both know we aren't doing anything about the dubs but I don't let a lot out because I hope I will make the right comment that makes them think. My brother was telling me how effective the ministry work is and how many thousands get baptized every year and that even if it is just the young, inexperienced, we are told to keep going from door-to-door to re-validate the "truth" in our minds. So we can make a defense when the Great Trib. comes. I was sickened! I would've said the same things a short time ago. But, now that I am on the outside looking in, I actually felt clausterphobic at the idea of submitting to such narrow, controlled thinking. I wanted to say, "No! They want you preaching to reinforce the cult mind control!" But I didn't want to create obstacles so I bit my tongue.
Anyway, like you said, at least we are no longer under the thought control. And others are learning the real truth every day.
Thanks for the quotes. I haven't read that book yet but I can see the need to

Thank you Troubled mind. And I owe it all to the 30+ years training in the theocratic ministry school
